(1942-2014) Born in Cleveland, Ceramicist James Watral moved to Dallas in 1969 after receiving art training under Toshiko Takaezu at the Cleveland Institute of Art, and earning an MFA from Tulane University. He taught for more than a decade at East Texas State University as well as at Texas Women’s University and Southern Methodist University and finally spending ten years at Eastfield College.

Waterfall’s work has been exhibited throughout Texas and beyond in such venues as the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nancy Margolis Gallery in Portland, Maine, the Dallas Center for Contemporary Art, and the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.
